BBFC advice: Contains infrequent strong language, moderate sex references, drug use

Old people don't move too quickly so it follows that a film about retired folk is likely to meander rather than race along.
Such is the case with Brett Haley's poignant but gentle tale about love and loss.
Blythe Danner convinces as the long-time widower whose beloved dog dies and then suddenly finds two men vying for her attention.
The first comes in the unlikely shape of her pool man (Martin Starr) who she sees as a platonic friend even though the suggestion is he would like to take their relationship further.
Second up is Sam Elliott, the actor with the syrupy voice, as a wealthy retired chap who wants to share his boat with a woman of similar tastes.
Both Starr and Elliott are support to Danner whose character, Carol, is caught between being frightened of the unknown and making every second of her life count.
Therefore, as well as her romantic dalliances, she is persuaded on a couple of madcap escapades by her card-playing friends (Rhea Perlman, June Squibb and Mary Kay Place).
I'll See You In My Dreams is a movie which wanders between the acceptance of old age and the desire to occasionally break out of its shackles.
Danner impresses but, while the movie strikes a chord, it is not memorable.
