I SUPERBIKER: THE WAR FOR FOUR
Cert 12A 89 mins
BBFC advice: Contains strong language

This is the fourth I, Superbiker I have watched and it is the first time I have known the outcome in advance.
So, to be honest, the tension which I had experienced in the previous three movies was a bit lacking in Mark Sloper's latest.
The reason that I was a bit more in the know this time was that a lad from Derby, Alex Lowes, has now emerged as one of the best racers on the British Superbikes circuit and my paper has given him plenty of coverage.
In the 2013, Lowes was up against the formidable favourite, Shakey Byrne and other veterans including Josh Brookes in the battle for the title.
Sloper's documentary, narrated by the legendary Murray Walker, focuses on the showdown between the top six racers, sparked after the first part of the 2013 season.
This leads to the nailbiting finale which goes down to the very last straight.
I, Superbiker always provides decent entertainment but I thought this version was a bit lacking in behind the scenes dramas.
In the past I felt myself cheering for the likes of Tommy Hill because I Superbiker had given us an insight into his family life. Here, the background takes very much a back seat to the racing.
Nevertheless, there are interviews with drivers, girlfriends and parents intermingled with the action and I particularly enjoyed watching the rollercaoster emotions in the Lowes' camp.
I would presume that motor-racing fans will lap it up but I still think this series falls short of TT 3D which still goes down as one of my favourite sporting films.
